When your wedding has been postponed.
In the light of the global Covid-19 pandemic. It’s been a difficult year to say the least for everyone. If you’re amongst the majority of couples who were planning on getting married in 2020 but have now had to postpone your wedding, I’m sure it will have been incredibly frustrating and a little heartbreaking.
You may now have a new date for your wedding in the diary but it's natural to still feel a certain attachment to your original date and don't want to to it pass by without doing something to make it feel special and important.
Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, there are many ways that you can do something lovely to make it a special day. You could host a video call party, take the day off working from home and have a date day, where you dress up and spend the day together or just pop open a bottle of bubbly and chat about all the things you have to look forward to but I'm a firm believer that photos make memories and I met with Lauren and Ollie to make their original wedding date a day to remember by capturing a beautiful, socially distanced, photo shoot on the day that should have been ...
We headed to a local green space in Bromley, early in the morning when the light was low and bright and the park was almost deserted. We came armed with hand sanitiser, face masks and a wedding bouquet that Lauren's Mum beautifully arranged. We spent the whole time laughing. It felt like our own private woodland and was just lovely. Lauren and Ollie are such a fun and positive couple and have not let the fact that their wedding day has been postponed put a dampener on their wedding plans or stopped their excitement.
The way they see it, it's a way to extend their celebrations further rather than just press pause and their local community really came together to help them celebrate. Gifts were left on their doorstep, their neighbours popped bottles of champagne with them from outside their homes while friends and family drove by to shout their well wishes and throw confetti from a safe social distance.
In a time where there is so much sadness, it was so lovely to be part of something that reflected on kindness and focused purely on love.
